Expressive Mode for ElevenAgents

AI voice agents that adapt tone, timing & emotion by context

Expressive Mode for ElevenAgents

Our Take

Expressive Mode is ElevenLabs' answer to the most obvious problem in AI voice: every chatbot sounds like a robot reading a script. This new feature for ElevenAgents lets AI voice agents adapt their tone, timing, and emotion on the fly based on context—so your customer service agent sounds empathetic when someone's upset and crisp when they're asking for a quick answer. No more flat, monotone AI voices that make you feel like you're being read a terms-and-conditions document by a toaster.

The team building this comes from some serious backgrounds. Akash Hamirwasia brought experience from Razorpay, Akamai, and smallcase. Georgy Marchuk came from Pipedrive and built the popular @swup open-source framework—real developer credibility. Janis Jansen came over from cognigy doing agentic AI work. These aren't junior developers guessing at what makes good voice UX—they've built production systems at scale and know what it takes to make AI actually sound human.

ElevenLabs has been making waves in AI voice synthesis for years now, and Expressive Mode is them pushing further into the agent space. This isn't just text-to-speech anymore—it's context-aware, emotionally intelligent voice interaction. The future of AI interfaces is voice-first, and ElevenLabs just made their agents feel less like machines and more like something you'd actually want to talk to.
