Our Take
OpenUI is trying to do something that sounds simple but might actually be revolutionary: create the open standard for Generative UI. You know how every AI company is building their own thing for turning prompts into interfaces? OpenUI wants to be the layer that all of them use—a common language so your AI doesn't have to reinvent the wheel every time it wants to generate a button or a form. They're building it with an open CLI, a playground, API reference, and they're already on GitHub pushing code.
Rabi Shanker Guha is the one building the Generative UI API at Thesys, and they're open source from day one—no walled garden, just pure infrastructure play. Generative UI is still early but it's picking up steam as every product tries to bolt AI into their interface layer. If OpenUI actually becomes the standard, they win by default. The question is whether the ecosystem plays along.
