Wayve
UK-based autonomous driving startup developing embodied AI for autonomous vehicles, recently raised significant funding

Our Take
Alex Kendall just dropped a monster raise for Wayve — $1B in their latest round, pushing total funding to $2.52B at a £2.31B valuation, making this the biggest UK AI bet this year. The ex-DeepMind founder (Cambridge PhD, obviously) is taking a fundamentally different approach with embodied AI — teaching cars to drive like humans instead of crutching on lidar — which puts them in a different lane from the US giants. The question isn't whether Wayve can drive, it's whether the UK can actually ship a winner at this scale.
