Write Lint
Your Mac's built-in proofreader, summoned by ⌘⇧L. Discussion | ...

Our Take
Alex Bilozor looked at every grammar tool on the market and said "cool, but all of them send my words to some server somewhere." So he built Write Lint—the first proofreading tool that literally never leaves your Mac. It runs on Apple's on-device Foundation Models, works fully offline, and costs $0. Zero dollars. No subscription, no account, no login. Just press ⌘⇧L anywhere—Mail, Notes, Slack, anywhere—and your text gets polished in a floating window. You review the diff, accept or reject, done.
Here's the part that matters: your words never touch a server. Not once. No telemetry, no training data, no "improving our models" excuse. Write Lint doesn't see anything because there's nothing to see—the model already lives on your machine. Prefer to use Claude or OpenAI instead? Plug in your own key and Write Lint passes through your text without ever touching it. Your key, your account, your call.
Most grammar tools are just fancy regex dressed up in AI clothing. Write Lint actually runs Apple's on-device intelligence and it shows—your text gets polished with actual understanding of what you're trying to say, not just pattern matching. Requires macOS 26.0+ with Apple Intelligence, which means this is very much a 2026-and-beyond tool. If you write on Mac and care about privacy, this is the tool you've been waiting for.
