Ana Ros

Ana Roš is a self-taught Slovenian chef and chef-patron of Hiša Franko in Kobarid, in the Soča Valley. Born 1972 in Tolmin, she trained as an alpine skier and studied international diplomacy before taking over her husband's family restaurant around 2000 with no formal culinary training. In 2017 she was named the World's Best Female Chef, was profiled on Netflix's Chef's Table, and in 2023 Hiša Franko became Slovenia's first three-Michelin-star restaurant, sourcing nearly every ingredient within 50km.
