Google Workspace CLI

Open source CLI for Google Workspace

Google Workspace CLI

Our Take

Rohan Chaubey, Mohit Dubey, Sviatoslav Dvoretskii, and Roop Reddy built something that Google itself didn't bother to build—a real command-line interface for Google Workspace. It's open source, it's free, and it's explicitly NOT officially supported by Google—which is honestly kind of refreshing. Someone at Google looked at this project, said "we should probably do this internally," and then just... didn't. So these four stepped in.

The Google Workspace CLI lets you do stuff that should already work natively in Google's ecosystem but somehow doesn't—managing Drive files, manipulating Sheets, automating docs workflows—all from your terminal instead of clicking through their notoriously clunky web interfaces. It's the tool you didn't know you needed until you try it and wonder why Google hasn't built this themselves already.

The project lives under the googleworkspace GitHub organization, and yeah, Sundar Pichai, Addy Osmani, Logan Kilpatrick, and Steve Caldwell are listed there—though whether they're actively contributing or just part of the org structure is unclear. Either way, this is a community-built tool that fills a gap Google left wide open. If you're a developer who lives in the terminal and got tired of the browser, this is your new best friend.
