Sai Tharun Kakirala, Nayan Surya, Akshay Kumar, Erez Shahaf, and Faisal Saeed looked at how everyone is building cloud-based AI memory apps that hoard your data and charge you for it—and said "nah, we're doing this differently." Lore is a local LLM agent that runs entirely on your machine. No cloud. No data leaving your device. Zero subscription fees. Open-source. It restructures everything you throw at it into a vectorized database and lets you summon your memory with a keystroke—just type what you want to remember or ask questions about your own knowledge base.

While everyone else is building AI products that monetize your data, these five built something that respects user privacy as a feature, not a buzzword. It works with any LLM and integrates locally, so your personal knowledge stays personal. That's the entire point. This is still early—a passion project from five builders who apparently decided the world needed a privacy-first alternative to the cloud-native memory apps everyone can't stop raving about. Worth watching.
