Our Take
Pre makes anybody an operator. That's the tagline and honestly that's all devtools should ever aim to do—remove the friction between idea and execution. Pre, a devtool built by a team of eight, is banking on the idea that you shouldn't need a CS degree to build what you can imagine.
The team includes Lien Chueh, Sviatoslav Dvoretskii, Ignacio Borrell, Rick Turoczy, Darius A Monsef IV, Travis Ueki, and Zack Onisko. Not much public info on their backgrounds or funding yet, which tells me they're either early stage or keeping things intentionally quiet. Either way, "makes anybody an operator" is the kind of promise that sounds simple but is incredibly hard to deliver on. The devtools space is crowded with platforms that say they'll democratize building—Pre actually has to prove it.
