Our Take

Avinash Sukhwani, Don Pansacola, and Aldrich Tan looked at the Philippines—a country of 110 million people with a economy that literally runs on cash—and realized small businesses were getting absolutely crushed by legacy banks. Opening a business account in the Philippines can take weeks, require mountains of paperwork, and still end in rejection. So they built NextPay, the digital banking layer that Filipino entrepreneurs actually deserve. They're Y Combinator W21 backed, BSP-regulated, and they've already processed over ₱28 billion in payment volume. That's 28 billion pesos moving through their pipes.

NextPay does for Filipino small businesses what Brex did for startups in the US—but actually adapted for the local mess. We're talking invoicing, collections, payroll, and batch disbursements to over 90 banks and e-wallets. No more manual bank portal logins, no more CSV format nightmares, no more chasing payment screenshots. Their API handles the whole flow: payouts, reconciliation, the works. Developers can build on top of it or teams can run everything from a dashboard. It's payment infrastructure that actually works in a country where payment infrastructure is basically broken.

The Philippines is a $400+ billion economy and over 99 percent of businesses are small and medium enterprises. These are the people keeping the country running and they've been forced to operate on spreadsheets and cash for decades. NextPay is the first real alternative—not just another fintech app, but actual regulated infrastructure that replaces the workaround stack. If you're building anything in Southeast Asia that involves moving money, this is the layer you need. Based in the Philippines, backed by Y Combinator, and processing billions. NextPay is the future of Filipino business finance.
